Journey with me for a moment, as I walk you through my mindset when doing Orange Theory. When I first started Orange Theory workouts, I often found myself mentally chanting “you can’t do this! You are going to hurt yourself! Hey, Lisa, you’re going to die!” Does this resonate with anyone?
I quickly realized that if I was going to benefit from this exercise program, I had to change my self-talk and mindset. The reality was not that I couldn’t do it, I just didn’t want to do it. I wasn’t going to die. Yes, the exercises are hard, but not impossible, and if something feels unsafe, I can adjust the exercise to meet my level of strength.
Since changing my mindset and accepting that this is hard but doable, I have started seeing improvements in my strength, endurance, and overall performance. By changing my mindset, I was able to keep going when things got hard and challenging. Instead of telling myself I couldn’t do something, I told myself I just had to keep going. This is the power of a positive mindset. It can help us recognize our capabilities and give us the courage to keep going, even when things seem impossible. A positive mindset gives us the belief that we can do anything we put our minds to, and it can help us reach our health goals.
